Daniella is the daughter of Susan. When Daniella received her diagnosis in her mid 20’s, she was struck by the lack of support and disappointed that she wasn’t told what Autism is, nor given coping strategies  and so she wrote the course to help others.

Susan threw herself on every course available, online, OU, face to face and read books and articles, but over the years she has learned so much about Autism by spending time with Autistic adults, learning from Daniella and her Autistic friends. She has spent many hours listening to parents, spouses and family and friends of Autistic adults who feel isolated without support and no local information. Susan wrote the course with help and suggestions from others and hopes it will help Autistic adults, their family members and friends to have better relationships through an increased understanding of Autism.

Before Daniella’s diagnosis, she and her mum Susan really misunderstood each other. Susan would think Daniella was being awkward, challenging and unloving towards her. Daniella would think that her mum did not care about her, was always angry with her, and couldn’t understand how her mum could cope with all the sensory issues that the world produced – Now they better understand each others’ perspective of the world, they know their brains are wired differently and Susan tries to communicate better using literal language – They have a better relationship now – not perfect – they are still learning – you will hear more on the courses.
